Kindergartners at Connors Elementary School in Lewiston recently completed a Side x Side puppet program led by teaching artist Indigo Grey and integrated with a literacy unit on fairytales. The program kicked off with a visit from professional storyteller and Side x Side teaching artist Antonio Rocha who taught storytelling techniques using mime and games. Students then learned how to trace and cut shapes to make puppets to use as characters in the story of The Three Little Pigs. They also learned drawing and painting techniques to bring their puppets to life. The program culminated with a puppet show performance of The Three Little Pigs for parents and other kindergarten classes!
