Throughout the school year, the Civil Rights Team teachers at Connors Elementary School in Lewiston collaborated with teaching artist Jill Osgood on a Side x Side mural program. During the program, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students on the Civil Rights Team studied diversity and inclusion in their school and community and learned portrait drawing to create self portraits highlighting their unique attributes. They then worked collaboratively to capture their unique school community in a permanent mural, incorporating flags from all the countries represented by students and faculty.
