Side x Side partnered with the Maine Historical Society to provide classroom teachers at our Summer Institute an in-depth tour and discussion of educational resources available from MHS. Portland elementary students study the City of Portland in grade 3 and the State of Maine in grade 4, and the MHS is an invaluable source of information and programming that we will continue to support.
The Maine Historical Society offers a variety of programs and resources designed to help teachers and students explore Maine history.
All programs draw on MHS’s extensive historical collections and the knowledge of its professional staff. The Maine Memory Network is a free statewide digital museum developed by the Maine Historical Society to provide unprecedented access to primary source materials held by historical societies, museums, and libraries throughout Maine.
