Fourth graders at the East End Community School are participating in a Side x Side program led by teaching artist, Casey Ledoux, that is integrating a literacy unit with film making. Using the book, “What If Everybody Did That” by Ellen Javernick as an anchor text, students are brainstorming adaptations to the story and turning them into short films. Through the program, students spent time thinking about and discussing the consequences of actions, both positive and negative, and learned about all aspects of film making including pre-production, storyboarding, camera techniques, filming, and editing.
