Fifth graders at Talbot Community School participated in a Side x Side program led by teaching artist Anne Ackerman and integrated with a science unit on invasive species. During the program, students studied the Emerald Ash Borer, its lifecycle, origin, and the damage it causes to ash trees. They also learned about the process of photosynthesis and the importance of native plant species in their own school yard. Using drawing and writing to capture their learning, students then created an oversized book page to teach others about the Emerald Ash Borer.
