
Eighth graders at Lewiston Middle School recently wrapped up a Side x Side program that integrated a literacy unit on dystopian writing with storytelling and performance. Led by teaching artist Antonio Rocha, students learned how to use oral storytelling as a tool to create a personal narrative. Through compassionate sharing and listening, students created stories that they then adapted into a dystopian landscape while building community and a sense of belonging in their classroom.
