The Side x Side in-person Summer Arts Institute has been moved to the fall. However, our Master Teacher programming is still intact and accepting applications starting June 1. Click here for more information.
Side x Side has temporarily suspended our in-school operations due to the progression of Covid-19. The office is closed and staff is working from home while we respect safety guidelines in order to keep our community safe. We remain committed to serving our public school educators and students and therefore, we have developed new ways to connect and serve our community through online learning and by delivering arts-integrated packets to students at school lunch program pick-up stations or by mail.
Until we can be together again, we’ll continue to support our teachers and students and be in touch through our website and social media channels (Facebook and Instagram). We greatly miss working with all of you in person but are working hard to be sure that our school programs and professional development opportunities will continue.
Side x Side is a Portland, Maine–based nonprofit organization that is driven to help students and teachers connect to what they are learning and to themselves, helping them to feel engaged, confident, and an integral part of their community. We provide creative, dynamic, arts-integrated classroom programming and professional development.
We believe the best education has creativity at its heart.
Side x Side uses an arts-integrated model to explore curricular content through the arts. By engaging in this creative process, students learn to practice an art form, demonstrate their understanding of academic content, and make meaningful products that can be presented to a broad audience… all in one unit! This truly experiential learning is naturally engaging for both students and teachers.
